Skanska Safety Week celebrates ten years – Safety on sites is the responsibility of the entire industry

All Skanska Business Units will held a Safety Week starting May 5 through May 12, 2014. It is a global initiative in which also subcontractors, partners and customers will participate along with 57 thousand Skanska’s employees. More than a quarter of a million people will focus during several days on creating a safe environment in professional and private life.

Skanska Safety Week is the world’s largest occupational health and safety initiative organized by a single company. This year’s, tenth edition, theme is “Working together for everyone’s safety.” Several construction companies usually share the same site. Therefore, it is important for everyone working on the project to observe health and safety. They behavior influences all others.  

What do we want to achieve

Skanska has a Zero accident vision and is working methodically to achieve this target.Over the past seven years, Skanska has reduced the number of accidents by 55 percent.

What do we do for it within the Safety Week

In the Czech Republic and Slovakia series of meetings with subcontractors will be held dealing with the safety on construction sites and opportunities for the improvement. Like all over the world, on our sites and plants many various activities will be held , participating all three Skanska business units operating in the Czech Republic and Slovakia (Skanska a.s., Skanska Reality a.s. and Skanska Property Czech Republic, s.r.o.).


Safe household is a common topic of Skanska Reality and IKEA

This year, Skanska Reality and IKEA cooperate on communicating education on safety in households. The guarantor for education on child accident rate in homes became MUDr. Ladislav Plánka, Ph.D., Chief Physician of Clinic of Pediatric Surgery, Orthopedics and Traumatology, Faculty Hospital Brno. Skanska Reality aims to expand the professional discussion on safety on sites with a new topic related to safety in homes.
