Port7, the newest project by Skanska, is going to be presented to the public for the first time during the highly appreciated Open House Praha festival. This community event, one of the largest architecture gatherings in the Czech Republic, will take place on 20 – 21 May 2023. During this weekend more than 100 architectural gems across Prague will open their gates to the visitors. Skanska, in collaboration with partners Scott.Weber Workplaces, Oční centrum Praha and DAM.architekti, is thrilled to be part of this exciting festival.

Now in its ninth year, Open House Praha offers a unique opportunity to explore over 100 normally inaccessible buildings in the Czech capital. For Port7, the newly built property by Skanska completed at the beginning of April, Open House Praha means the first chance to be presented to the public.

“Port7 story begins with the revitalization of an old industrial area, which has been transformed into a vibrant part of Prague 7. In collaboration with the esteemed DAM.architekti studio, we paid a lot of attention to the urban and architectural concepts of the project. Thanks to that Port7 links the modern design with reflections of the industrial past of the location. We are proud of the way we changed this brownfield and are excited to showcase it not only to our tenants but also to the local community and architecture enthusiasts,” says Jana Prokopová, Leasing, and Asset Director at Skanska Commercial Development business unit in the Czech Republic.

“Our intention was to use the hidden potential of the brownfield site with the former precast concrete factory and create a space of new quality for its visitors with truly versatile use. In addition to offices, Port7 also features a bank, an eye clinic, a fitness center as well as shops, restaurants, and a place for relaxation in the form of a wellness center. All this is complemented by the recreational green areas on the refurbished Vltava embankment,” adds Jiří Havrda, chief architect of Port7 and partner of DAM.architekti.

Port7 will be open to visitors from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on both festival days, with guided tours led by Skanska volunteers lasting approx. 30 minutes. The route always starts at entrance 1 of the Edinburgh building, which is located near the new underpass to the railway and metro stations.

Port7 route highlights

During the Open House Praha, visitors will have the unique opportunity to step inside the private premises of Scott.Weber Workplaces and Oční centrum Praha, while enjoying breathtaking views of the entire project, the Vltava River, and opposite Troja hills from one of the rooftop terraces. It's an experience that promises to captivate and leave a lasting impression.

This event lets us showcase our commitment to creating inspiring, flexible working environments. We are eager to show our rooftop terraces with outstanding views on the Vltava River, Troja, and Vítkov. Visitors may browse our interiors designed in line with port theme enriched by creative elements,” says Ondřej Hubatka, Head of Marketing at Scott.Weber Workspace

"We are joining the event as one of the first tenants of Port7. We would like to show the new modern premises, which are tailored to the needs of our eye clinic and offer a contemporary environment for quality and modern eye care. "Seeing clearly" is the motto for the entire area. Light and its refraction on the crystal are the concept behind the design of the clinic's interiors, which we will present to the visitors," says Adam Janek, Director of the Prague Eye Centre.

After completing the tour of the Edinburgh building, visitors are encouraged to enjoy strolling on the newly refurbished Vltava river promenade, explore the revitalized Vltava embankment, and wander through the newly created public park with youth-full trees, grass, and wooden seating providing the perfect setting for relaxation and socializing.

On the Port7 piazzeta, a food truck will be on hand serving refreshments and non-alcoholic drinks.
